Living Classrooms Foundation strengthens communities and inspires young people to achieve their potential through hands-on education and job training, using urban, natural,and maritime resources as "livingclassrooms".
Project SERVE is a 4-month jobtraining program that teaches marketable skills in construction, generalcarpentry, solid waste removal, andlandscaping, while participantsrevitalize Baltimore neighborhoods and work with case managers to findsustainable living-wage employment. Program goals are to train and placeparticipants, many of whom are returning citizens, in employment while providingsupport services. In addition, SERVEhelps keep city neighborhoods clean and safe by reducing environmental hazards and risks to publicsafety. Project SERVE offersa full continuum of support services, beginning prior to release fromincarceration, and continuing through a 12 month after-care component thatincludes regular contact with career coaches.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary Responsibilities
Supply Management
•Ensures that field staff has the necessary supplies to perform dutiesdaily.
•Assists with maintainingrecordstodocumentneededprogramsuppliesforfieldactivities.
•Purchasesandpicksupuniformmaterialsformembersand document the distribution ofuniform materials.
•Worksalongsidestafftodocumentneededbuildingsupplies–includingcleaning materials, new keys, maintenanceconcerns, etc.
Vehicle Management
•Assists with maintaininganup-to-datelogofvehiclestatusandensuretimelyrepairsandserviceisregularlycompleted.
•Assists with daily pre and post vehicleinspections and report status toOperations Manager.
GeneralSkillsandDuties
•Collects receipts and otherdocumentation from the field staff daily.
•Conducts daily field sitevisits.
•Ensures that fee for servicecontracts are fully staffed daily.
•WillingnesstoworkasateammembertomeetProjectSERVE’smission,objectives,and yearly goals.
•Commitmenttohonestyandintegrityintheperformanceofallduties
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma
•Valid Driver’s license
•Clean driving record
•Abilitytoworkeffectivelywithpeopleofdiverseeducationalandculturalbackgrounds,from justice-involved individuals to public officials.
•Two-threeyears’experienceworking in the facilities and maintenance.
•Excellentverbalandwrittencommunicationskills.
•Computerliteracy,includingknowledgeofbasicsoftwareapplicationsandfamiliaritywiththe Internet,email, and other forms of computer and phone-based communication.
•Driventoattainmeasurableresults.
•Abilitytofosteracooperativeworkenvironment.
•Abilitytoestablishandmaintaineffectiveworkingrelationships.
